Small Talk With Brett

by Brett Vebber

Cystic Fibrosis affects the whole family and issues need to be addressed as a family.  This section is dedicated to focusing on the family for encouragement and advice because it seems society is seeing a break in family values and intimacy.

This issue's topic is on medical insurance.  I know from personal experience that I do not know all of the questions that need to be asked about this subject.  I truly believe that if someone is thinking about switching insurance companies, considering marriage, or getting a new job, one should definitely seek the advice of a social worker and discuss options with the family.  I am aware that CRS helps adults to be covered, but a lot of the medical expenses are not covered in full.  I am hoping the CF community will band together to do something about this!!!  Families with CF may have big bills and the cost of coverage of insurance can be huge as well.

This is an important subject and one that should be discussed with a social worker to receive aid, advice, and ideas on ways to understand responsibility in this area.
