Help For A College Education Is Here For You!

by Les Ernest, VRS

Families of people with disabilities such as cystic fibrosis, know first-hand the difficulties and obstacles their loved ones face in trying to reach career goals.  What many of them don’t know, however, is that help is available.  The Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services (ADRS) is uniquely qualified and equipped to offer that help.

ADRS provides vocational counseling and services to individuals with disabilities designed to help them become employed and to reach their maximum vocational potential.  The agency assist qualified individuals in receiving college or vocational school training, artificial limbs, wheelchairs, vehicle modifications, job placement assistance and other services and devices needed to help them become employed.

This agency has helped thousands of people make a better life for themselves and their families.  To be considered eligible, you must have a disabling condition that limits your ability to work, such as cystic fibrosis, and you must be able to benefit from ADRS services by being able to work at some level.

If you are interested in hearing more about how ADRS may be able to help you or your family, contact the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services at (205) 290-4400 or 1 (800) 671-6837.
