From The Editor

by Brett Vebber

Thank you so much for your response to our last CFHeart2Heart.  The last issue discussed resistance to medicine.  Several good questions came in about the subject, including a great question about whether or not swimming is a good idea since water could be a place where bad bacteria dwells.  The doctors wrote the mom commenting that there is no way we can keep our children away from all bacteria unless we were to live inside a bubble.  So, the answer was "yes", it is OK to swim, but it may not be a good idea to swim with other individuals who have CF.  In my opinion, it is good to consider the emotional and social as well as the physical issues when making decisions.

Thank you again for the great response and please continue to correspond as we try to understand more about lung transplants.  Our next issue will feature health insurance and government assisted programs.  We would love to use your questions in the next newsletter so please mail them to at:
