CLS Has NEW Exciting Programs!

By Barry Worman, BRS, NRT

Child Life Services reduces anxiety and stress for children in the hospital.  This occurs through have an activity room, school, medical play, counseling, and providing special events.  The main focus is to let the children be children by growing and enhancing through play.

This past month, "Growing for Care" started with the help of Home Depot.  The children learned horticulture therapy by receiving a plant to take home and learning how to take care of it.  Other events on the horizon include pet therapy and trying to be involved with major sports teams.  Everyone who has been in the hospital knows about Child Life Services and how they make the stay a little bit easier.  If you are ever admitted, be sure to look up "Old Bear" in the 4th floor activity room.

You can also check out the Children's Health Systems website.  They will occasionally post about new items of interest and activities that are sponsored by Child Life Services.
